An amazing night of music and masquerade!

On December 28, 2014, the Bruce James Orchestra was honoured to perform for the Suburban Swing Christmas Masquerade. The dance floor was packed all night with over 290 enthusiastic swing dancers all adorned in beautiful costumes. As always, the BJO had a great time providing live big band music for this amazing group of dancers. Thanks to Jason and Crystal Warner for the invitation. Looking forward to the next show! June 14, 2014: A Day of Celebrations!

The Bruce James Orchestra was recently privileged to perform  at two very important functions: The Maple Ridge Bandstand Birthday Bash celebrating the the 20th birthday of the Maple Ridge Bandstand, and for Mr. & Mrs. Alex and Amanda Angus’ vintage themed wedding  – both on June 14, 2014.

The bandstand birthday bash ran 9:30AM-8:00PM on Saturday June 14, 2014. Various musical groups from all over the lower mainland participated. The Bandstand was re-dedicated to the city, and various members of the political community were present to help celebrate this community gathering place. The Bruce James Orchestra was the headliner group for this event.

Congratulations to the Maple Ridge Concert Band for organizing this fabulous community event! www.mrcb.ca

BANDSTAND

In addition to musical performances, there was even a wedding held during the bandstand birthday festivities: that of Amanda Rohl and Alex Angus. See their wedding story here: www.mapleridgenews.com/news/251009901.html

After the ceremony and after the bandstand set, the BJO made their way to the Rohl/Angus wedding reception to perform.

This wedding was a wonderful celebration, but also important to the band as Amanda Angus (neé Rohl) is one of our members! The dance floor was hot, the band sounded great, and the bride and groom looked stunning. Congratulations to the newlyweds. Best wishes for a very happy life together filled with love, laughter, and of course – music!

The BJO starts their 15th season

Fall upon us signifies the end of summer. This summer was one of wonderful weather, great music and community for the Bruce James Orchestra – the Tri Cities’ hottest Big Band.

We at the Bruce James Orchestra would like to thank the Maple Ridge Times and the Maple Ridge News for helping us promote big band music in our community, and for running articles about our 3rd annual Summer Serenade – a free community concert series which occurred every Wednesday night throughout July and August at Spirit Square in Pitt Meadows.

The success of the Bruce James Orchestra Summer Serenade would not however, be possible without our patrons! This summer, over 1,000 big band lovers from all over the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley came out to enjoy our music in Spirit Square. We anticipate next summer will bring out even more audience members, and more great swing dancers!

On behalf of the Bruce James Orchestra, I would also like to acknowledge the tireless work and support of Danielle Toth, Kathryn Baird, and all of the members at the Parks & Leisure Services Department of Ridge Meadows. Further appreciation goes to Deb Walters, Mayor of the City of Pitt Meadows for the Certificate of Thanks from the city to the Bruce James Orchestra for organizing and performing at Summer Serenade 2013. Summer may be over but the Bruce James Orchestra plans to keep it hot by continuing to perform great music!

Thank you to everyone for your on-going support of the Bruce James Orchestra! Looking forward to Summer Serenade 2014, and a year of great music ahead!

Sincerely,

Bruce Flello,

Band Leader
